Prizes

The Australian Junior Chess Championships will award official Australian Junior Chess Champion titles, as well as trophies and cash prizes. This applies to the Classical events, the Australian Junior Blitz Championships and the Problem Solving Competition.

How are prizes awarded for combined tournaments?

Some divisions may be combined into a single tournament. For example, U14, U16 and U18 players will compete in the same tournament for the Australian Junior Blitz Championships. It is possible for a player to win a prize from a higher age group. In this situation, players can only win one prize. Players will always be awarded the highest prize which they won. 1st place in any division is considered to be a higher prize than 2nd place in any division, which is considered to be a higher prize than 3rd place in any division. 

Who is eligible for cash prizes?

All players are eligible to win cash prizes. Players who are registered to an overseas federation with FIDE are not eligible to win titles, but they are eligible to win cash prizes.
