Registrations for the 2027 Australian Junior Chess Championships are now open!

Registrations will close 11:59pm the day before the division starts.

Eligibility

FIDE ID / Federation

Players must be registered with the Australian federation through FIDE to be eligible to win a title. If you are registered to another federation you may still enter and win cash prizes, but you are ineligible to win a title.

If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident we can easily register you for a FIDE ID at the event. If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you must obtain a FIDE ID from your national federation (this FIDE ID will be needed to register).

Age restrictions

• A player's age is considered to be their age on the 31st of December, 2026.

• The term 'Under' means that a player must be less than that age to be considered eligible to play in that division.

This means that a player who turns 10 in 2027 (i.e born in 2017) is eligible to play in U10 or a higher division. A player born in 2016 is NOT eligible to play in the U10 division and must enter into U12 or a higher division instead.

Players may:

• Play in an older age group, if they wish.

• Play in multiple divisions, provided it is permitted by the schedule. You must register/pay for both events.

There are no rating restrictions for any tournaments at AJCC, and players of all skill and experience levels are welcome.
